What do Now, Next, Later and The Pile mean?

Three lanes tell you what to do first, without a long list.

Short answer

Now is what you are doing today. Next is what comes after. Later can wait. The Pile is where tasks land when you haven’t sorted them yet.

The lanes

Now, Next and Later, with The Pile for tasks you haven’t sorted yet.

Your tasks are the ones you own and the ones assigned to you. Tasks you finish today stay in their lane, crossed out.

Change a task’s lane

Select the task’s Now, Next or Later pill and choose another lane. On the Tasks page you can also drag a card. See how to move a task.

Questions

Why is The Pile folded away?

So it does not crowd your day. Open it when you are ready to sort tasks into Now, Next or Later.

Can I choose where new tasks go?

Yes. Use New task goes in on the add button’s menu.
